About · Microsoft MVP · SharePoint Specialist

Hi, I’m Liza.

Microsoft MVP, SharePoint specialist, and the human behind Simply SharePoint. I’ve spent two decades fixing messy SharePoint environments — and Simply SharePoint is where I’ve finally written down what works.

My story

20+ years working inside SharePoint.

I’m the founder of Simply SharePoint and a Microsoft MVP for SharePoint — a recognition I’m genuinely proud of, because it reflects 20+ years of hands-on work in real SharePoint environments. Early intranets through to modern Microsoft 365 and Copilot-ready platforms. Site clean-ups, governance resets, IA redesigns, end-user training — and a lot of conversations with teams trying to make this product actually work for them.

What I’ve learned across so many environments is this: most SharePoint problems aren’t technical. They’re design, ownership, and structure problems that compound quietly over time until something breaks or someone notices the mess.

What I love most is stepping into that complexity and designing a structure that finally makes sense — one that people understand, trust, and actually use.

The rule everything is built on

There is no AI without IA.

Copilot doesn’t fix the mess — it exposes it. Every piece of guidance I share, every framework I publish, every product in the hub is built on this one principle: structure first. Get the foundations right, and AI works. Skip them, and AI just amplifies what was already broken.

What I do

Untangling messy SharePoint so it stays untangled.

I help organisations bring order, clarity, and trust back into SharePoint by focusing on the four things that make or break the system: information architecture, metadata, permissions, and governance that actually works in the real world.

That might mean cleaning up years of legacy content. Redesigning site and library structures. Helping teams understand how SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Copilot are meant to work together. Or sitting with a leadership team and reframing what success looks like for their Microsoft 365 environment.

Through Simply SharePoint, I publish deep-dive guidance, practical training, workflow cards, and learning pathways — all of it grounded in real projects and recognised through my work as a Microsoft MVP.

My focus

Structure first. Everything else follows.

Three principles shape everything I publish — and everything I do for clients. The goal isn’t “perfect SharePoint.” It’s a system that people understand, use correctly, and don’t accidentally break.

🧭

Grounded in real work

Everything here comes from real organisations, real clean-ups, and real constraints — not idealised demos or theory that collapses at scale.

🗂️

IA is non-negotiable

Search, governance, and Copilot only work when the structure underneath makes sense. Fix the foundation, and everything else becomes easier.

Out-of-the-box, on purpose

Governance only sticks if teams can maintain it themselves. I prioritise native Microsoft 365 features so solutions last long after projects end.

Liza Tinker — outside the SharePoint world
Beyond SharePoint

Structure with style. Governance with humanity.

Outside of SharePoint, I love live music, great food, bold fashion, and spending time with my teenage daughter — usually somewhere in the city with a coffee in hand.

Before tech, I worked in fashion. That creative background still shapes how I approach technology: clarity, usability, and confidence matter just as much as capability. Strong opinions, deliberate choices, and the willingness to throw something out and start again when it isn’t working.

Simply SharePoint blends structure with style, governance with humanity, and experience with honesty. If you’re ready to fix the mess and build something that lasts — you’re in the right place.
