Cover of the SharePoint Ready Scorecard: Is your SharePoint site ready for Copilot?

Why this matters now

Copilot doesn’t tidy your SharePoint.
It reads it.

Copilot and SharePoint’s site agents answer questions using the files, pages and lists your people can already open. When your site is clean and current, that’s brilliant. When it isn’t, Copilot shows people exactly what’s wrong with it, with total confidence.

The overshared file

The salary spreadsheet shared with “everyone” years ago. Copilot will happily summarise it for anyone who asks.

The 2019 draft

Three versions of the same policy and no way to tell which is current. Copilot picks one. It might not be the right one.

The folder maze

Ten folders deep, no columns, and file names like Final_final_v7. If people can’t find it, Copilot can’t make sense of it either.

Inside the scorecard: Area 1, Access and sharing, with questions, how-to-check tips and Yes, Partly and No tick boxes

What’s inside

Five areas. Fifteen questions. One honest score.

01
Access and sharingWho can really open your site, and the sharing links that let in more people than you think.
02
StructureWhether your libraries and folders help people find things, or hide them.
03
MetadataWhether your files are described well enough for people and Copilot to know what they are.
04
Content currencyDuplicates, outdated drafts and documents nobody owns.
05
Copilot and agent readinessWho owns the site, and whether you’d trust the answer Copilot gives you today.
PLUS
  • A “How to check” tip under every question, so you’re never guessing
  • Your score out of 30, with what it means for your site
  • Your top three fixes, in the order that matters
  • Five real questions to ask Copilot about your site, before and after

How it works

Ten minutes. No admin access. No jargon.

1

Pick one site

Choose the SharePoint site you own or use most. Score that site only, not your whole organisation.

2

Answer 15 questions

Tick Yes, Partly or No, using the “How to check” tip under each question. Be honest: a generous score helps nobody.

3

Get your top three fixes

Add up your score, see where your site stands and pick the three fixes that will make the biggest difference.

Who it’s for

Made for the people who actually look after SharePoint sites

Site owners who were handed a SharePoint site and never shown how to look after it
Team leads whose organisation is rolling out Copilot and want their site ready first
IT and operations leads who need a quick way to check the state of every site, without running every check themselves
Anyone who’s saved a file called “final_final_v7” and felt a little bit guilty

No Copilot licence? It still works. A well-structured site is faster to search, easier to use and safer to share, with or without Copilot.

Who made this

Hi, I’m Liza Tinker.

I’m a Microsoft MVP with more than 25 years of SharePoint and Microsoft 365 experience, and I’ve cleaned up more SharePoint sites than I can count. This scorecard is the first thing I check on any site, written in plain English for the people who actually own the sites.

What format is it?

An 11-page A4 PDF you can print and fill in by hand, or keep open beside your site while you work through it.

Does it work for SharePoint Online?
